Flash The Lights At Me Lyrics And Guitar By Seamus Moore. Words and music by Nuala Woods. Mighty song.

FLASH THE LIGHTS AT ME 4/4 (Seamus Moore)

The Seamus Moore version starts in a E major but will change its key after the third chorus. If you want to do the same you should replace the chords given below as follows:

D = E, G = A and A = B in the first three verses/choruses

D = F, G = Bb and A = C in the 2nd part of the song.

If you want to stick to E major throughout the whole song it’s easier to use a capo on the 2nd fret

I left school a while ago when I got meself a job,
The craic is good on the building sites, an I make a couple a bob.
I bought a Ford Festa, me pride and joy is she,
If the're stopping 'round the border, won't ye flasy the lights at me.

Flash the lights at me, flash the lights at me.

I paid the auld insurance, and it cost me a couple a grand
I'm not stone broke and that's no joke, I'm sure you'll understand

If the're stopping 'round the border, won't you flash the lights at me.

Use the code on the border roads and flash the lights at me.

The tyres are nearly boldy and I have no tax at all.
There's a drop of red in the diesle tank that could be my downfall
If the customs they are ''dipping'' or the boys in blue you see.
If the're stopping 'round the border, won't ye flash the lights at me.

Flash the lights at me, flash the lights at me.
Use the code on the border roads and flash the lights at me.

Sometimes on a Sunday, to Jonesboro I go
I might have a couple a squibbs in the boot, tapes or videos.
I might have a load of potin or a drop of duty free.
If the're stopping 'round the border, won't ye flash the lights at me.

Flash the lights at me, flash the lights at me.
Use the code on the border roads and flash the lights at me.

We're crafty 'round the border, that's how we have to be
We like to get the better of the customs and authorty
We can barly forge, we know the score, we've a simple philosophy
If the thing's not right day or night, won't you flash the lights at me.

Flash the lights at me, flash the lights at me.
Use the code on the border roads and flash the lights at me.

Flashing the lights at an oncoming driver is used in many countries to tell a driver there's a check point of Garda/Police ahead. In Ireland it's used along the border with Northers Ireland to warn drivers who may be using the wrong kind of diesel in their cars or trucks. A lot of illigal trading takes place along this border, one such practise was transporting cattle and pigs across the border and selling the lifestock then somehow returning across the border with the same animals. Seamus also mentions ''Squibbs'' which are fireworks and are banned in The Republic Of Ireland but are smuggled across the border where hugh profits are made. If there's a few pound to be made it's amazing how versatile a fella can be.
