Several so called farmers have been held in Swords over the years, the first was held in St. Colmcilles
Club car park before moving to the Main Street outside Fingal County Offices. These markets have sprung up all over the country
in recent times. The vast majority are no farmers markets at all but cheep imports from the U.K. mostly Northers Ireland stall
holders selling anything from bananas to cream cakes. The general public are been taking advantage of thinking they are supporting
locally grown produce. While the idea of a farmers market is a great way to sell fruit, vegetables and other items grown
on local farms I have yet to witness any farmers from Fingal at these markets. If you come upon a real market where local
produce is been sold let me know so I may advertise where such produce may be purchased by local people living in Swords and
Fingal.
