Housing Estates In Swords And The Surrounding Area
Other groups of houses were built in Swords long before the term ''Housing Estate'' was used. The earliest
groups of houses were built by the council in areas link Brackinstown - Windmill Lands, Rathbeale Cottages which became known
as ''The Twelve Apostles'' , Newtown Cottages in Balheary, Rathingle Cottages on The Forrest Road which was known as just
''Rathingle'' and the cottages on the Drynam Road. All of which were built between 1900 - 1930.

Seatown Villas Swords was built in 1949 and is the oldest housing estates in Dublin for County Council
housing. Seatown Terrace which is also located on the Seatown Road was built around the same time. The Villas soon became
known as ''The Glock''' or ''Gloca Morra'' and The Terrace became known as ''The Congo''
A generation on and a lot of the descendants of the original families still live in Seatown. The photo above was
