sheet music notes if any.
Where Have All The Ballad Sessions Gone ? Is it just where I live or is there a sharp decline
in the amount of ballad session out there. I have noticed this over the last couple of years. Up until the 1990s you were
guaranteed a session in most towns throughout Ireland. I'm not talking about the big names like the Wolfe Tones, I'm on about
the unsung ballad groups who play three or four nights a week in pubs around Ireland. Also I've noticed there are no new groups
around, are the young people not learning traditional Irish instruments like the banjo, mandolin and tin whistle ? .
I can't remember the last time I heard a ballad group that the musicians were under forty years old. If you play in a
band or know where there is real sessions going on give me a shout and if I get enough I'll create a new section and advertise
it on the site.
