Beaumont Bus Briefing Note
In early 2012, Nifti met with the CEO of Beaumont facilitated and supported by
Minister James Reilly and Cllr Tom O’Leary. As part of the National Integrated Rural Transport Committee Transport Strategy,
Nifti have joined the newly established Fingal Integrated Transport Working Group.
Arising from discussions with Bus Eireann, the HSE and from feedback received
by Fingal County Council in recent questionnaires we started a PILOT bus service to Beaumont Hospital in July of this year.
Our proposed service is fully compliant with current government national policy on rural transport provision and integration.
A Nifti bus will meet/connect with the Bus Eireann Drogheda service twice a day
in Swords at 9.25, 12.45pm. We will ferry passengers back and forward to Beaumont hospital on a fully accessible bus with
wheelchair lift. In addition, if required, Nifti can collect mobility impaired individuals from the Fingal area, on a limited
basis, before it connects with the Bus Eireann bus.
This service is a public transport service and will be open to all patients, and
visitors. It is envisaged that a fare will be charged to test the viability and sustainability of such a service into the
future.
We intend to run the service for the summer months and review in September 2012.
The nominated driver is a qualified first aider and emergency first responder. An early morning service can also be progressed
based on demand. NIFTI
