The above fares are estimates
with no heavy traffic and 1 person in the taxi and based on day time rates from Mon. to Sat. 8am to 8pm.
There
are 3 different kinds of fare structures
operated by taxies all over Ireland but basically only
2 of these are in operation
while travelling around
North Dublin as the third [ rate 3 ] only comes into play
after 25km , so there's no need to
worry about this one.
Rate 2 comes into effect from 8pm to 8am each day and all
day Sunday and bank holidays and in
general is about ⅓ more
expensive than day rates.
If you stop a taxi on the street or at a rank there should
be
no extras displayed on the meter unless there is more than
one person using the cab as it's an extra €1 per person.
When
you first get into a taxi the starting fare on rate 1 [ 8am - 8pm]
shoul display €4.10 unless you kept the take waiting
for some time.
This €4.10 will change after the 1st km or 170 seconds, which ever comes first.
After the 1st km
and up to 14 km the fare increses by €1.03 per km or .36 if waiting in traffic.
It doesn't make any difference
how fast the driver is driving the take as
it won't make a difference to how fast the meter goes up. It's based on time
and
distance travelled. Remember if calling a take to your house or business
don't keep the driver waiting as this waiting
time can add a lot to the fare.
