a D whistle, it's fairly easy to play. The last line in the verse is usually played as a sort of intro at the start, well
at least the Dubliners along with The Pogues used it as an introduction.
The video of Jean playing this one has him playing an intro. He plays the refrain twice before starting the main melody
of the song which is a bit like the way The Pogues covered it.
