Time[G] goes by as years roll[D] onwards,
[C]Still in [D]memory fresh I [G]keep,
Of a night in Brlfast[D] prison,
Una[C]shamed I [D]saw men[G] weep.
[2]
As the time was fast approaching,
A lad lay sentenced for to die,
On the second of september,
He goes to meet his God on high.
[3]
Now he's marching to the scaffold,
Head erect he shows no fear,
And while standing on that scaffold,
Ireland's cross he holds so dear.
[4]
Now the cruel blow has fallen,
For Ireland he has given all,
Who in the flower of manhood,
Proudly answered to the call.
[5]
Brave Tom Williams we salute you,
And we never shall forget,
Thoes who planned your brutal murder,
We vow we'll make them all regret.
[6]
So[G] I say to Irish[D] solders,
[C]If from[D] Tom's path you chance to[G] stray,
Just keep memory of that[Em] morn,
When Ireland's[C] cross was proudly[D] borne,
By a lad who lies within this[C] prison [G]grave.
