Luke Kelly's Land Lyrics And Chords Pete St. John
I think this is the best tribute song to Luke Kelly
The Dublin City Ramblers recorded it. These lyrics with chords are exclusive to this site .There are 2 youtube videos, one of The Dublin City Ramblers who were the first to record it and the second is my own version. The chords given are the way I play it, key of D Major.

It's[D] a long lonely[G] road that has no[D] turning,
And a sad[D7] stream that[G] never[A] see's the[A7] sea,
Oh but[G] let the truth be[D] known,that a[G] great unrest has[D] grown,
In[D] the Green[G] land Luke[A] Kelly[A7] left to[D] me.
[2]
The young ones they are leaving Luke, and there's none can bid them stay,
There saying that there's more to life than this,
In the ignorance of man, they dont need the bombs or bands,
When love can be destrustions, Judas kiss,
[3]
[We'el sing the songs of warning Luke while computers prattle on,
Empty echoes on the Raglan road,
It's a famine of the mind, that has always plauged our kind,
When strangers reap the harvest we have sow'n.
[4]
It's you and me again Luke,we've seen it all before,
The foreign fields once more have turned to Green,
And with nothing but a song,to face every wright or wrong,
Oh but I can only dream what might have been.

Ralph McTell Tribute To Luke Kelly
I first saw Luke Kelly when I was 18,
he took the stage, began to strum the banjo,
opened his mouth and sang at the top of
his voice and scared the living skit out of me.
I had never seen anyone give so much passion to a song.
His wild red hair forming  a face of a different
reddish hue. head thrown back supported by
what looked like what hawsers as thick as a man's finger
whilst the veins in his neck and temples stood out cables '
At that moment he Looked like he would burst with anger,
commitment and passion he was just able to contain.
I was so proud to call .Luke a friend in later years.
that first encounter he must have been all of 24
