My Little Village Lyrics By Irish Country Band Triaxle. A song about leaving your small village to find work in America only to end up drinking every cent you made. This story sounds very familiar as that's what most Irish young men do when they go abroad looking for a start.

It's (G) not very big and it's (C) not very (G) famous.
Just a (C) couple of houses that's (G) all. (D)
But it's (G) been home to me for (C) twenty two (G) years.
Oh how I (C) wish I could (D) give it a (G) call.

My father and mother worked (C) night, noon and (G) morning
To (C) give me a schooling and (G) help me get (D) on.
But (G) passing exams is (C) not much ad(G)dition.
when you can't get a (C) job then you (D) can't have much (G) fun.

So with (C) nothing to do only (G) sign on the brew.
I saved all my money and de(C)cided to (D) go.
To the (G) big U.S.A. where there's (C) work night and (G) day.
I'll be back in two (C) years and I'll (D) put on a (G) show.

When I landed at Kennedy I (C) knew things were (G) different.
There was (C) no one to meet me or to (G) show me a(D)round.
And there's (G) nothing as lonesome as (C) seeing ten million (G) people.
And not knowing (C) one in the (D) whole bloody (G) town.

So I (C) started to work for a(G) job the next day.
I'd letters from teachers and (C) clergy as (D) well.
But I (G) finished up driving an (C) old exca(G)vator.
On a big building (C) site 'round a (D) sky scraper (G) shell.

It's (G) not very big and it's (C) not very (G) famous.
Just a (C) couple of houses that's (G) all. (D)
But it's (G) been home to me for (C) twenty two (G) years.
Oh how I (C) wish I could (D) give it a (G) call.

Well the work is all done now and the (C) building's com(G)pleted.
The (C) boss says I'm quitting and to (G) look for a (D) job.
But in (G) three years of drinking and (C) having a (G) good time.
I've squandered my (C) money and I(D) haven't a (G) bob.

So I'm (C)not going back yet to (G) my little village.
To the friends and relations and the (C) people I (D) love.
But I (G) promise myself in a(C)nother two (G) years.
I'll be back with my (C) family please (D) God up a(G)bove.

It's (G) not very big and it's (C) not very (G) famous.
Just a (C) couple of houses that's (G) all. (D)
But it's (G) been home to me for (C) twenty two (G) years.
Oh how I (C) wish I could (D) give it a (G) call.

Below are the lyrics without the chords

It's not very big and it's not very famous.
Just a couple of houses that's all.
But it's been home to me for twenty two years.
Oh how I wish I could give it a call.

My father and mother worked night noon and morning
To give me a schooling and help me get on.
But passing exams is not much addition.
when you can't get a job then you can't have much fun.
So with nothing to do only sign on the brew.
I saved all my money and decided to go.
To the big U.S.A. where there's work night and day.
I'll be back in two years and I'll put on a show.

When I landed at Kenneddy I knew things were different.
There was no one to meet me or to show me around.
And there's nothing as lonesome as seeing ten million people.
And not knowing one in the whole bloody town.

So I started to work for a job the next day.
I'd letters from teachers and clergy as well.
But I finished up driving an old excavator.
On a big building site 'round a sky scraper shell.

It's not very big and it's not very famous.
Just a couple of houses that's all.
But it's been home to me for twenty two years.
Oh how I wish I could give it a call.
Well the work is all done now and the building's completed.
The boss says I'm quitting and to look for a job.
But in three years of drinking and having a good time.
I've squandered my money and I hav'nt a bob.

So I'm not going back yet to my little village.
To the friends and relations and the people I love.
But I promise myself in another two years.
I'll be back with my family please God up above.

It's not very big and it's not very famous.
Just a couple of houses that's all.
But it's been home to me for twenty two years.
Oh how I wish I could give it a call.
