The Murphy's Lyrics, Streets Of Promise. Written by Katie And Candy Murphy, I would never have come across this fine song if it hadn't been for youtube. I came upon it and thought , ''What A Lovely Song And Such A Great Band And Singers'. Where I come from here in Dublin you'd never hear these songs on the radio. I'm looking forward to hearing more from The Murphy's.

Once upon a time some bright lights called to me,
And I dreamed of future fortunes and the things that I could be
So I left my little town thinking it would hold me down,
But my youth was yet to teach me that my feet were for the ground.

So I set my sights on a life in a life in the grand city,
Where the streets of promise drew me in,
And the brightest light lit the path of my ambition,
But the streets of promise played the game I couldn't win.

I lived the life but over time my wishful heart began to find,
That it's not always easy to those you love behind,
Those city streets were paved with gold they went and kept me on my toes
And so it seems my new bound dreams were treasures to behold.

So I set my sights on a life in a life in the grand city,
Where the streets of promise drew me in,
And the brightest light lit the path of my ambition,
But the streets of promise played the game I couldn't win.

As years went and passed me by it took me time to realise
That all I ever wanted was that game on the Emerald Isle,
I packed my bags with lessons learned, I headed home to where I yearned
Thank God above to those I love and blessing me ?

So I set my sights on a life back home in Ireland,
On the streets of promise I'll begin
Now there's starry skies like the path of my ambitions
And the streets of promise may gain but I cant
